GRAYLING -- A northern Michigan clinic received a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a means to support some of its patients and expand health care services.
The AuSable Free Clinic in Grayling received the $15,000 grant as part of Blue Cross Blue Shield's support to the uninsured and underinsured residents of Michigan. The clinic is a non-profit organization that opened in 2005 to provide health care and referral services to low income residents of Crawford, Oscoda, Roscommon and Montmorency counties.
“Free clinics play a vital role in Michigan’s health care system because they serve as a safety net for the uninsured and provide quality health care to people who need it the most,” said Lynda Rossi, Blues vice president of Social Mission, Public Affairs and Office of the President.
The clinic has walk-in services every Thursday afternoon.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan provided about $7 million in grants since 2005 to help free clinics with daily operations and to enhance the services they provide.
