BOYNE CITY, MI -- A local co-op is gearing up for the season of giving.

Great Lakes Energy will hold a holiday silent auction for employees on December 13th and 14th, but before that happens, organizers are looking for a little help.

Businesses have already donated some goodies, and Great Lakes hopes to get more gifts that employees can bid on at their holiday party.

All proceeds made from the auction go to local charities.

"We used to just do give-aways and stuff for our employees, but we decided to have this silent auction. We want to give back to the community, and it's a great way around the holidays, a great way to do it," said Shari Jones of Great Lakes Energy.

Last year, the auction raised more than $4,000 for local charities across their service region.

Businesses or organizations can donate until December 8th.

You can drop off items at Great Lakes Energy Office in Boyne City, Kalkaska, or Waters.

You can drop it in the mail:  Great Lakes Energy, Attn: Nicole or Laurie, PO Box 70, Boyne City, MI 49712

Or Great Lakes will pick it up.  Call 1-888-485-2537, ext. 8203.
