Are students forced to sit on the floor?
TRAVERSE CITY -- As parents we count on buses to get our children to and from school safe but the areas largest district is facing a big challenge -- crowding.
There are so many kids on the buses that one mother says kids are being forced to sit on the floor.
7&4's Kate Fox spoke with this mother and the school and has the story new at 11.
Bonnie Humphrey says this is a problem she became aware of just a few days ago, when she overheard a conversation between her son and his friend -- that left her stunned.
Humphrey explains, "His friend said to make sure that they got to the bus early, so that they wouldn't have to sit on the floor on the school bus.... I was like excuse me? What did you say? And he said sometimes they have to sit on the floor of the school bus because there wasn't enough seats... And I said you're kidding me right?"
