Authorities say robber made off with more than $100,000

PELLSTON -- The search for an armed robber is underway in Emmet County.

The man walked into Citizens National Bank in Pellston at 9:30 Wednesday morning.  The man was wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun.

Two bank employees were inside the bank at the time, there were no customers inside.  No one was hurt.  The robber made off with more than $100,000.

Several agencies are scouring the area for the vehicle that was last seen heading north on U.S. 31.

Pellston Area Schools are operating in a high security mode. School leaders are being extra cautious by keeping exterior doors locked and students indoors for the remainder of the day.

The suspect is described as a white man, 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a blue puffy coat, blue jeans, and white shoes.  Deputies believe he is driving a tan car, that may be a 2001 four-door Chevy Impala that was stolen Tuesday from a home.
