WEXFORD CO. -- A Mesick man is facing several charges, including assaulting a police officer, following a chase through Wexford County.
A trooper with the Michigan State Police tried to pull over a vehicle in Cadillac around 10:45 Wednesday night. The officer believed the driver was a suspect in a recent domestic violence incident. The suspect pulled into a parking lot and ran from the vehicle. The officer chased the man, who was able to get back into his car and take off. As the suspect was leaving the scene he rammed into the police car and another vehicle nearby.
A chase through Wexford County ended on a two-track east of U.S. 31 near Mesick. After the driver tried to again run away on foot, police used a taser to take him into custody.
The 46-year-old is being charged with domestic violence, fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, assaulting a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon, and operating while intoxicated.
