TRAVERSE CITY -- In an e-mail sent out tonight, Michael Moore said that memberships at the State Theatre in Traverse City are down by sixty percent (60%) and the theatre needs financial help. He sourced two reasons. First, the theatre's sixty-year-old exterior and marquee need repairs. Second, they want to keep offering weekly 25-cent movies and free community event space.

Tom Dayton, the State Theatre's manager, described ways to contribute saying, "People can purchase a seat in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone, or just so they can have their name on it! They can do that for $1000, and it goes to a wonderful cause. They can make a similar investment in the individual panels that we put outside the theatre. Coming up for Christmas, the gift cards to the state theatre have always been very popular."

They are already almost half-way to their fundraising goal, thanks to commitments from major donors and foundations that together equal over $200,000 in challenge matching funds. That means your donation of any size will go twice as far! You can help the State Theatre reach it's half-million dollar goal by CLICKING HERE.
