GAYLORD, MI -- Otsego County EMS has some new life saving technology.
New carbon monoxide detectors have been attached to each of their life support kits.
The monitors were purchased for the six life support vehicles at a cost of $225 a piece.
With the technology, first responders will have a better idea if high carbon monoxide levels could be a cause of concern.
"Carbon Monoxide can kill you, the use of generators, kerosene heaters, things that are not vented well emit lots of carbon monoxide in a home, and saturations can get wild, it can be fatal," explains Otsego Co. EMS Director Jon Deming.
Deming says the new detectors will also keep crews safe if they enter a home with high carbon monoxide levels.
