TRAVERSE CITY -- Clean Up and Green Up, that was the purpose of a free community-wide recycle and reuse event in Traverse City Sunday morning.

The end of daylight saving time not only meant gaining an extra hour this weekend, it also meant that its time to recycle.

"Clean Up and Green Up" encourages people to use that extra time to help to preserve the environment by bringing in difficult-to-recycle items.

Some of the most popular items recycled today included microwaves, cell phones and tires.

Organizers say it was refreshing to see such a big turnout today.
