(AP) -- U.S. flags in Michigan are being lowered to honor a 34-year-old Navy SEAL who was among the 30 American military personnel killed when their Chinook helicopter was shot down by insurgents in Afghanistan.

Heath Robinson, who was from Petoskey,  died Aug. 6 in Wardak Province while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

The flag lowering was ordered for Friday by Governor Snyder.

Robinson graduated in 1995 from Petoskey High School.
