Smoke could be seen for blocks
TRAVERSE CITY -- Fire broke out Friday afternoon at the Hanna Bistro restaurant in downtown Traverse City.
We're told flames started in the kitchen area around 4:15 PM.
7&4 spoke with Darcy Hanson, who says he saw smoke and immediately called 911. Hanson was told by dispatchers to go inside the restaurant and warn people to get out.
The fire department was able to keep the blaze from spreading to any other buildings and tell us no one was hurt.
When the fire broke out dozens of children and their parents were in downtown for trick or treating.
The Traverse City Fire Department tells 7&4 News that there is water damage inside the part of the dining area, and damage to the back of the restaurant.
Ironically, the building once housed Fire Station 1.
