Free screening on November 10th at John and Marnie Demmer Wellness Pavilion

PETOSKEY, MI -- Northern Michigan Regional Hospital is offering free heart screenings for high schoolers.

9th through 12th grade athletes will be examined to see if there are heart problems or signs of future problems at the free screening on November 10th.

The athletes will be hooked up to an EKG and have their blood pressure checked and will answer a list of questions about their recent health.

"There are certain warning signs we can identify and that's the whole purpose of this screening really is to try to either by talking to the student or his parent or by doing some basic screening tests that we do to try to pick up before tragedy occurs, a condition that may be preventable," said Dr. Jason Ricci, Cardiologist at NMRH.

Students can get their free test on November 10th at the John and Marnie Demmer Wellness Pavilion between 3:30 and 7:30.

Registration is required. To register or to learn more, please call 800.248.6777.
