WHEATLAND TWP. -- Two 13-year-old boys from Mount Pleasant were killed after an off-road vehicle they were driving flipped over and landed on top of them.

The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. Monday night on private property.

The victims have been identified as 13 year old Christopher Romer and 13 year old Riley Schlegel of Mt . Pleasant.

Both boys were 8th graders at Mt. Pleasant Intermediate school.

There was no school today because of parent-teacher conferences but Principal Luke Stefanovsky says the schools Student Support Crisis-Traumatic Events Team will be on hand for students Wednesday.

The boys were found by one of their fathers unresponsive. They could not be revived and were pronounced dead at the scene.
