LEELANAU COUNTY -- A ski resort that has been closed for several years may open just in time for winter.

Sugar Loaf Ski Resort in Leelanau County may open as a cross country skiing and ice climbing club. Erik Zenender who is the co-owner of Fountain Point Resort says he is negotiating with Sugar Loaf owner Kate Wickstrom to lease the mountain.

A deal might be complete by Thanksgiving.

This is the first public plan since Liko Smith showed interest last year. He moved back to Las Vegas after he couldn't find the funding to buy the property.
