EMMET CO., MI -- A local county's recycling program has received a top state award.
Emmet County Public Works Director Elisa Seltzer has been named the 2011 Michigan Recycling Coalition's "Member of the Year" for the recycling efforts in the county.
She received the award at the last county commissioners meeting.
She says the award speaks volumes about the program that continues to grow every year.
"Our program stands at the top of the best you can do funding a program and providing really great services," said Seltzer.
No tax dollars are used to fund the program and 80 percent of county residents recycle.
Seltzer says several new jobs have been created in the last 10 years at the facility and there's a good potential the growing program could create more.
