Residents in need can reel in some fresh fish meals after a record year for salmon harvesting.

Members of several area veterans organizations are teaming up to distribute excess King Salmon and Coho to families.  The unprocessed fish will be given away at four locations northern Michigan Friday.

If you would like to pick up some fish you are asked to bring a cooler or tote with ice to one of the following pick up areas starting at 2:00 p.m.:

Rolling Thunder
Lakeview Church of the Brethren
14049 Brethren Ave.
Brethren

Amvet Post 114
410 Bridge St.
Elk Rapids

American Legion Post 35
1231 Hastings St.
Traverse City

American Legion Post 219
10283 M-186
Fife Lake

Each adult will be given up to 3 fish.  The fish will be cleaned and placed in proper storage as soon as possible.  Each location will get several loads of fish so a short delay in distribution may take place if a location runs out of fish.
