National food expert Dr. Oran Hesterman visits Northern Michigan

TRAVERSE CITY -- National food expert and author Dr. Oran Hesterman will be visiting Traverse City to discuss the ever-growing local food movement and food crisis, as he presents his ideas of how we can change not only what we eat, but also how food is grown, packaged, delivered and sold.

If you'd like to see Dr. Hesterman, he'll be at the State Theatre in Traverse City at 6:00 p.m on Thursday, October 6th.

The Fair Food: A Recipe For Change event is free.

Dr. Hesterman will be discussing his book "Fair food: Growing a Healthy, Sustainable Food System for All," as well as his Double Up Food Bucks program. He will also hold a book signing at Horizon Books in Traverse City immediately after his presentation.

You can dine at five participating Traverse City restaurants to support the Double Up Food Bucks program. Participating restaurants include: FireFly, Oryana's Lake Street Café and Kitchen, Pangea's Pizza Pub, Phil's on Front and The Cooks' House.
