TRAVERSE CITY -- Nearly 600 people put on their pink this past weekend for the 2011 Remembrance Run at Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City.

Now in it's 18th year, the run which benefits the Munson Women's Cancer Fund, saw a record number of participants.

But before organizers could celebrate the success, an East Bay Township official showed up and served the event coordinator with zoning violation papers.

"He actually came within 10 inches of my face and yelled that I had this violation. When I asked him to leave because I thought it was inappropriate he threatened to bring the sheriff out," explained Karen Wells, Remembrance Run Director.

East Bay Township Zoning Administrator Leslie Couturier says while she wishes this situation was handled differently, safety remains the township's top priority.
