Rapid City man in jail

TRAVERSE CITY -- A Rapid City man is being held in the Grand Traverse County jail after being arrested for possession of heroin.

Plain clothes detectives made the arrest at a convenience store near the intersection of Munson and Cochlin streets on the city's east side around 10 pm Thursday night.

A drug K-9 dog alerted detectives to a backpack the suspect was carrying.

Police say during a search of the backpack they found hypodermic needles, a small amount of marijuana and heroin.

The suspect's name is not being released until after his arraignment.
