TRAVERSE CITY -- UpNorthLive's Facebook fans voted to hear more about a fundraising effort to stock the food pantry for struggling students in Traverse City.
Traverse City High School has many students facing homelessness or parenthood. The alternative school has a food pantry on site to help students concentrate on their education and have one less worry.
Right now the school needs help filling the pantry shelves with items like canned goods, personal hygiene products, baby food, dry goods and money.
The Grand Traverse Democrats will be having a fundraiser and collecting food items for the pantry Saturday. The food drive will take place from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Glen's Market on East Eighth Street.
You can also drop off donations at Traverse City High School during school hours.
