ROSCOMMON -- The clubhouse at the Burning Oak Country Club on Redwood Drive in Roscommon burned down Thursday night.

A neighbor tell 7&4 news that a large fire erupted around 9 p.m. He reported hearing a "loud bomb sound" and says he went down to the course and saw the clubhouse burning. The man did not want to be named. He went on to say that by 10:30 p.m. the fire was only "smoldering" and that it looked like most of the damage had been done. The State Police confirmed that no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. There is no word yet on a cause.
