Community rejoicing over finished construction project

CADILLAC -- After four months, a major construction project on a busy thoroughfare in Wexford County is finally over.

All lanes on Mitchell Street in downtown Cadillac are back open. Construction made driving down this stretch of road over the summer quite a hassel. It backed traffic up and drivers were forced to take alternative routes.

Businesses say customers that avoided the area all summer are finally stopping in again now that the project is complete. Drivers are happy that the once worn down, bumpy road is smooth.

Daniel Katto says, "It's a blessing to not have that construction, and the project is excellent. I'm very happy with what they did and it will be nice not to be on a bumpity road"

Kraig McMartin says, "Everything is a reflection. Of course when you ahve a nice road and nice streets it adds to the community, hopefully an extension on the businesses as well."

MDOT says more than 15,000 vehicles travel down Mitchell Street everyday.
