TRAVERSE CITY -- UpNorthLive's Facebook fans voted to hear more on how to get their favorite farmers market in the national spotlight.
You have to act quickly however, America's Favorite Farmers Market contest ends at midnight tonight - so spread the word!
American Farmland Trust holds the annual America's Favorite Farmers Markets contest to raise national awareness about the importance of buying fresh food from local farms and saving the farmland where it's grown.
You can vote for as many participating farmers markets you want to but can only vote for each market once. All you have to do is put in your zip code to find out if yours is in the running.
At the end of the contest, one small, medium, large, and boutique, farmers market will win the title of “America’s Favorite Farmers Market” for 2011.
The reward for the winning market in each category will be a shipment of No Farms No Food® totebags, a feature article on the award winning foodsite Epicurious.com, and other prizes.
The Sara Hardy Downtown Farmers Market in Traverse City is in the running. So is the Leelanau Farmers Markets in Lake Leelanau.
