TRAVERSE CITY -- It's an event that 7&4 News has been previewing for the past few weeks and that's because it's the first ever event of its kind taking place right here in northern Michigan.
The Traverse City Heart Chase through the American Heart Association is aimed at bringing family and friends together to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke. 7&4's Melissa Smith is chairing the event and has been working hand in hand with Amanda Peterson with the American Heart Association.
It's scheduled for Saturday, September 17th at the Traverse City Open Space. It will start at nine in the morning and go until noon.
There are also several volunteers and sponsors in the Traverse City area who have stepped up to take part in the event that includes ten checkpoints that people will go to and take part in various activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
Also, people can register to take part by going to the Heart Chase website and clicking "I want to play!" For a direct link click here.
