TRAVERSE CITY -- A heads up for area seniors, plans are in development for a new senior housing complex in Traverse City.

The Village at Grand Traverse Commons Developer Raymond Minervini says a purchase agreement is signed with a Boston-based company for 110 new rental apartments for those 75 years and older.

While the majority of the units will be designed for independent seniors, 25% will be assisted living apartments.

Minervini says the location provides seniors with a level of convenience and a multi-generational community.

Minervini explains, "We have people from 6 years old to 85 years old here -- so what happens is they’re apart of an active community with multiple amenities all within walking distance -- many in the same building."
