The search for Valerie Palmer is underway in Houghton County.

HOUGHTON, MICH -- Crews are searching for a missing Emmet County woman in the Upper Peninsula.

Valerie Sue Palmer, 55, of Harbor Springs, was visiting friends in the Houghton area when she disappeared. 

According to WLUC-TV,  Palmer was last seen Saturday night wearing capri pants, white and yellow tank top and a visor.   Police say they found Palmer's purse and other belongings in a boat that did not belong to her in Torch Bay.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been out on the water assisting with the rescue search as well as Superior Search and Rescue, who have been on foot, searching in Houghton and surrounding areas.
