NEAR COPEMISH -- A Benzie County man is charged with armed robbery after investigators say he and as many as six others used pepper spray to steal from a medical marijuana patient.

It happened around 9:00 PM June 20 on a two track near Copemish in Manistee County.

The medical marijuana patient was meeting friends when he was attacked with the pepper spray.  About two ounces of marijuana and $1,800 in cash was also stolen.

Brandon Colby of Thompsonville was arraigned in circuit court on the armed robbery charges Monday.

Manistee County Prosecutor Ford Stone says this is the first case in Manistee County of a medical marijuana patient being a victim of robbery.  More arrests are expected in this case.
