GARFIELD TOWNSHIP -- Local firefighters and community members were all smiles today at the grand opening of a new fire station in Garfield Township.
The Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department proudly cut the ribbon on their newest station this afternoon.
Station 12, which is an eco-friendly facility, will serve the west side of Garfield Township.
Fire Chief Pat Parker says this new station provides the community with even more protection and security. Chief Parker says construction was made possible by a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
