Robinson was killed in last weekend's Chinook helicopter attack in Afghanistan
PETOSKEY, MI -- We're following up a story we first brought you on Monday, the day we learned a local soldier, Heath Robinson, was among the Navy SEALs killed in Afghanistan when their helicopter was shot down.
7&4 News talks with a high school friend about Heath's dedication to what he did, and the blow this news has had in the Petoskey community.
Heath Robinson was a 1995 graduate of Petoskey High School and his closest friends say he was dedicated, dedicated to anything he ever took part in.
Friends say Heath Robinson did what he believed in and did it well. Closest friends remember the bond they had with him, the times he dragged them out to camp on the field the night before football two-a-days. His former football coach Dave Farris told me he was one of a kind -- dedicated and a leader.
Heath’s friends believe he died doing what he believed in.
Heath's closest friends say he left a great mark on the city of Petoskey, but more importantly, an excellent mark for the country he served.
The Robinson Family released a statement Friday regarding the death of Heath while serving our country: "Our family is among many others that are mourning the loss of a husband, father and patriot. We truly thank you for all the support in getting through this trying time."
The family also released a quote from George Orwell that Heath signed all of his emails with: "We sleep peacefully in our beds because rough men stand by to visit violence on those that would do us harm."
The Robinson family has also set up a memorial fund.
