TRAVERSE CITY -- As Washington works to fix the Nation's debt crisis, the effects are still being seen on the Nations financial system and this is causing a great deal of frustration.
7&4 News caught up with Senator Carl Levin, who was in northern Michigan on Friday, he says it’s not a time to be "fed up" rather determined and focused.
Senator Levin says a group of new republicans are making a compromise difficult -- he says these newcomers to Washington have drawn unreasonable lines in the sand and refuse to get on the same path.
Senator Levin says, “There is a group of newcomers in Washington who is ridged and they are willing to see the credit rating of this country go down the tube if they don’t get their way on deficit reduction. This is an extreme position they've taken... and I think its made life a lot more difficult for those of us who understand that if you want to get something resolved, you have to be willing to listen to the other guy and find a common path."
