Before we know it, the busses will be rolling, the lunches will be packed, and our kids will be back in the classrooms. So we decided to spend the next few weeks focusing our Fact Finders on back to school issues that your district maybe facing now, or soon will be. In this report, we take a look at "rainy day" funds.

Districts across Northern Michigan have a huge range in the amount of cash they keep in those funds. According to the most recent numbers available from the fiscal year 2009-10, some schools have fairly robust funds that are allowing them to not have to make deep cuts.
