TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Candidates hoping to make a run for Traverse City mayor have until Tuesday to file their petitions.
Traverse City's current mayor Chris Bzdok announced earlier this year that he will not be running for reelection.
The city clerk told 7&4 News former police chief Ralph Sofferdine and former mayor Michael Estes have thrown their hats in the ring.
"The petition and filings have to be received by our office by 4PM and the filings contain various statements about the candidate that are required by law. They have to have the signature of at least seventy registered, city voters," said Traverse City Deputy Clerk Benjamin Marentette.
Traverse City also has three city commission seats up for grabs.
Deadline for commissioner candidates is also set for Tuesday.
