TRAVERSE CITY -- There's new indication the Traverse City State Police Post could stay open.
In March, it was announced that 21 posts across the state would close. This included the Traverse City, Manistee, and Cheboygan Posts.
A new plan under review would keep the Traverse City Post open and make it the District Headquarters. This would mean the building in Acme would shut down.
But the 14th Street State Police Post in Traverse City needs some renovations.
Michigan State Police Commander Russell Smith says, "Were going to have to reconfigure the building, we have between 8-10 people that will be occupying the faciilites from District Headquarters, and we've got to establish the offices and recreate some of the work spaces that we once had there."
Commander Smith says nothing is set in stone yet but he anticipates the potential move to happen by the end of the year.
