EAST LANSING -- Several local wineries are being judged by experts from across the country at a competition Tuesday.
More than two dozen judges will be sniffing, tasting and eyeing Michigan wines and spirits to pick out the best. The 34th annual state wine and spirits competition is underway at Michigan State University's Kellogg Center.

Black Star Farms and Forty-Five North were big winners in the competition in 2010. Several other local vineyards also were recognized. You can find a full list of last year's top wines HERE.
An awards ceremony will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kellogg Center. Awards were given last year for dry white wine, dry red wine, dessert wine, semidry white wine, semidry red wine, rose, sparkling wine and fruit wine.
