EMPIRE -- Two people were air-lifted to a local hospital late Monday night after sustaining injuries on a tour boat traveling through rough weather.

According to the Coast Guard, a sightseeing tour boat, Pictured Rocks, was sailing out of Frankfort in Lake Michigan when they were hit by a wave which injured the passengers and caused the boat's electronics to malfunction.

The Coast Guard says rather than return to port, the boat crew decided to land the vessel near a beach in Empire. All other passengers escaped the incident with minor injuries.
