UPDATE: Body found in Lake County
BALDWIN -- A murder investigation is underway tonight in Lake County.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office says 31-year old Andrew Smith, of Big Rapids, was found in a pool of blood on West 72nd Street just off Forman Road Sunday morning.
Police say Smith suffered a gun shot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. Michigan State Police and the crime lab from Grand Rapids assisted in the investigation.
Sheriff's investigators are conducting interviews today to piece together what happened.
Lake County Sheriff Bob Hilts says, "This is senseless and we hope to get to the bottom of it soon and put whoever is involved where they belong... prison."
Sheriff Hilts says the victim knew several people in the county and around the area where his body was discovered.
