2 killed in lightning strike

OSCODA COUNTY, MI -- A lightning strike killed two women and critically injured a man Saturday afternoon in Oscoda County.

Investigators said the incident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on or near the AuSable River in Big Creek Township.

According to deputies, the three adults were exiting the river when the lightning struck.

The two women, Lisa Mann and Cheryl Nickert-Keyser, both 54, are from Lewiston. They were pronounced dead on scene.

Robert Mann, 57, is also from Lewiston and is in critical condition at Saginaw Saint Mary’s Hospital.
