TRAVERSE CITY -- A Traverse City teenager is behind bars after police say he walked into a strangers home  and sexually assaulted a woman.

It happened just after midnight Friday at a home on Webster Street.

Police say the 18-year-old went into the home through an unlocked door.   The 35-year-old woman inside woke up to the suspect sexually assaulting her.  When she screamed her roommate woke up and the teen ran from the home.

The suspect was arrested while he was running through a neighbors yard.  He will be charged Friday with Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree, which is the most serious CSC offense.  He will also be charged with 1st Degree Home Invasion.

The CSC charge is punishable by life in prison.  Home invasion is punishable by 20 years in prison.

The victim received minor injuries during the assault.
