A swimmer trying to beat the heat was rushed to the hospital by rescue crews in Grand Traverse County.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Twin Lakes Park just off of North Long Lake Road.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff says the 19-year-old man was snorkeling with friends when he went under.  His friends found him on the bottom of the lake and pulled him ashore.   Witnesses called 911 and the Long Lake Township Fire Department arrived and started performing CPR.

Familiy members tell UpNorthLive the man died on the way to the hospital.
