TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- More than 500 motorcycles rolled out for the 2011 “Ride for Father Fred.”
Sunday morning, a police-escorted processional departed Classic Motor Sports. The cycles followed a route north through Old Mission Peninsula.
Father Fred Executive Director Martie Manty said proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Father Fred Foundation’s summer boost program for children and families. “We wanted to increase our impact on young families with children home form school with additional food during the summer,” Manty said.
Those who participated in today’s ride were asked to donate $20. Organizers said the event is expected to bring in thousands of dollars.
