TRAVERSE CITY -- The first annual "Heart Chase" through the American Heart Association is a new, fun, family-oriented race taking place Saturday, September 17th in Traverse City. The goal of the event is to educate people on the number one killer of men and women, which is heart disease.
Teams will work together to race through Traverse City by foot and take part in various ten checkpoints that will include activities. These activities will focus on a healthy lifestyle that's needed to avoid heart disease.
There will be a meeting Wednesday, July 13th at the Holiday Inn West Bay in Traverse City at 5:30 p.m. for additional information about the first annual event. There will also be details for local businesses and community members who would like to take part.
7&4's Melissa Smith is the chair of the event and is hoping to get the community involved! During 7&4 News Today, she sat down with Amanda Peterson from the American Heart Association to break down this brand new event.
