CHARLEVOIX, MI -- On Friday, a new flag pole was dedicated to the waterfront at a park in Charlevoix.
The 75-foot post once stood in front of the former Big Rock Nuclear Power Plant, which was the first nuclear plant in Michigan and was closed in 2006.
The privately funded project keeps the post in the community and former workers at the plant say having the post up is an important reminder of the area's rich history.
"It was a great relationship, we helped each other out when we could, gave support to the city, the city supported us, so we said we just got to have it here," said Bill Trubilowicz.
