REED CITY -- We have update on a story 7&4 News first brought you back in May. We had originally reported that Reed City Area Public Schools in Osceola County decided to get rid of their busing services instead of laying off six teachers and making other cuts.
However, the superintendent Steven Westhoff tells 7&4 News the district worked out a plan to return bussing to their budget for the 2011-2012 school year. Under the new plan bus drivers will be contracted through the Michigan Educational Transportation Services Company.
The school district will own and maintain bussing fleet and will provide the fuel. Westhoff says the district will be saving $400 thousand compared to last school year.
