PETOSKEY, MI -- The North Central Michigan College campus is going smoke and tobacco free.
That means no cigarettes, cigars, pipe or chewing tobacco.
The school says on August 1st, the products will be banned.
This is something that the school's student council thought was necessary.
"We think we should be role models for the rest of the community, that smoking is something that is a personal choice, and we'd rather not have it anywhere on our campus, that removes the issue from second hand smoke and discourages people from smoking and encourages people from quitting smoking," said public relations director Charles McGinnis.
This July, the college will post signs to publicize the new policy.
Smoking cessation products like patches and gum will not be banned by the new rule.
