LEELANAU CO. -- You can taste local wines while helping homeless pets in Traverse City, and our UpNorthLive Facebook fans voted to hear more about it!
Ten Leelanau County wineries are teaming up next week for an event called "Pours for Paws". Each business is featuring a special wine and will donate a percentage of proceeds from bottles sold to the Cherryland Humane Society.
"There a reason why Pours for Paws came to be as an event was that all the wineries on the peninsula-- all members of Leelanau Peninsula Vineyard Association love dogs," explained Laurie Conney, organizer of the event. "Wineries and dogs have had a long history so we wanted to give back to the community that has given us so much and many of us have adopted dogs from the Cherryland Humane Society."
"Pours for Paws" week runs from June 27 - July 4. Participating wineries are Gill's Pier, Chateau de Leelanau, L Mawby, Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor, Black Star Farms of Suttons Bay, Willow, Good Harbor, Forty-Five North, Good Neighbor Organic and Bel Lago.
