TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City area is learning more about the community lip dub project being planned for July.

The video will look similar to the one shot in Grand Rapids just a few weeks ago. The video can be seen by CLICKING HERE.

The "American Pie" lip dub from Grand Rapids received more than three million hits on you tube. Fish Soup Films will be donating their time and resources to the music video in Traverse City that will include a cast of hundreds.

Two songs will be featured, starting with "You Can Call Me Al" by Paul Simon and transitioning into "Jump" by Van Halen.

The video will consist of one single continuous shot that will begin at the State Theater and end at the Open Space.

The Traverse City Film Festival's lip dub is hoping to feature everything Traverse City has to offer from the Toxic Cherries Roller Derby team to the Interlochen Arts Academy.

So far 500 people have stepped up to help with the project.  Organizers hope to double that number in the coming weeks.  To make it a success the project needs singers, Assistant Directors (ADs), crowd wranglers, and groups & individuals willing to act in the background of the dub.

Several people tried out to be the main featured lip syncers at the first meeting Wednesday night. Another round of auditions will take place June 27th in the Traverse City Film Festival office at 4:30 pm. A full list of our lip-syncers will be e-mailed out later that night. The offices are located on the second floor of the Radio Center Building, suite 240. Enter in the door next to the new Grand Traverse Resort store.

Full rehearsals are scheduled for July 15 and 16 starting at 5:30 PM.  The lip dub is planning to be taped on Sunday, July 17 from 1:00-6:00 PM.  Front street will be closed during that time.

More details on the plans can be found on the groups facebook page. You can find it by CLICKING HERE.
