TRAVERSE CITY -- UpNorthLive's Facebook fans voted to hear the latest news on the fireworks funding for Traverse City.

The fireworks will take place over West Grand Traverse Bay.   The Traverse City Visitors and Convention Bureau announced several weeks ago that without donations, the city would not be able to afford the $25,000 display.

Recent donations from both businesses and community members saved the display for July 4, in fact there may be enough left over to start a fund for next year's fireworks.   In fact, there's discussions to start a non-profit to begin raising money through out the year for the event.

To see the full list of sponsors of this year's event CLICK HERE.   You can also find a list of fireworks displays happening through out northern Michigan by clicking on THIS LINK.

You can help choose the news by voting in our Facebook Story of the Day.  Three choices are posted on our facebook page each evening and you have until 9:00 a.m. the following day to vote for your top story.  You can find our page HERE.
