Former Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel has at least one job offer following his resignation with the Buckeyes. In a press statement made public today by the Traverse City Beach Bums, Tressel could bring his skills to our area. Here is what the Bums are offering:

"Traverse City Beach Bums have decided to offer former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel the opportunity to join the Beach Bums for the 2011 season.

The Beach Bums will look to enroll Tressel and his apparent knowledge in the merchandise and memorabilia area to help promote the Beach Bums in Northern Michigan. As a merchandise intern, the Beach Bums will be sure to provide intense supervision and institute strict rules about the distribution and sale of Beach Bums merchandise.

As a member of the staff, Tressel will also be required to wear the Beach Bums team colors, maize and blue throughout his internship when working at Wuerfel Park. Email usage will also be strictly monitored so the Beach Bums will be informed of any important information when it’s FIRST received.

The Beach Bums do their best to give their interns the full experience of how the front office of a minor league baseball team works. This includes networking and building business relationships with their various sponsors. However, in this instance Tressel will not be interacting with the sponsors directly, especially the car dealerships and tattoo parlors in the area.

John Wuerfel, the COO of the Traverse City Beach Bums who also has to sons that both graduated from the University of Michigan, was asked his thoughts on Jim Tressel’s resignation. Wuerfel replied “Ahhh, that’s too bad. Go Blue!”

The Traverse City Beach Bums are members of the Frontier League, an independent baseball league with teams in seven Midwest states. The Beach Bums are entering their sixth season of play in 2011. Please phone 231-943-0100 for more information.
