HARBOR SPRINGS, MI -- Campers aren't the only ones who use Memorial Day weekend as a kick-off for summer fun.

Hundreds of boaters will fire up their motors for the summer season.

Irish Boat Shop in Harbor Springs said they have a long line of boats waiting to get back into the water.

Many have been backed up by the weather and the economy, but the owner of the boat shop says location helps.

"We're a little bit lucky. We're in a beautiful area, and the lake always provides a reason for people to come up, but yes, absolutely, everybody's being hurt by the economy, Michigan, a little worse than most," said Michael Esposito, President of Irish Boat Shop.

Esposito doesn't expect all of the slips to be filled this weekend but expects it to pick up by the middle of June.
