GAYLORD, MI -- Before we know it, fall will be here, and it means the start of high school sports for thousands of area high schoolers.
Otsego Memorial Hospital can help you get a head start as you prepare to make the team.
The OMH Medical Group will be giving sports physicals for all area middle school and high school athletes on Thursday, June 2nd, and Thursday, June 9th, beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the Professional Medical Building at Otsego Memorial Hospital.
Members of the OMH Medical Group staff and other community physicians will be on hand to provide the physicals to area athletes. The students are charged for the physicals, but the money is donated back to the student’s respective athletic department program.
“For several years, our providers have essentially donated their services to high school and middle school athletes,” said Skip Kasprazak, Vice President of Physician Services. “By giving a few hours of their time, they are not only encouraging regular physicals for athletes, but also helping to fund programs which keep kids active and healthy.”
Physical testing begins at 5:30 p.m. Each student must have a parent or legal guardian in attendance and a medical history sheet must be completed prior to the physical. Medical history sheets can be picked up at school offices and will also be available on site.
The cost of the physical is $15 and checks can be made out to Otsego Memorial Hospital. A yearly medical physical is required to be eligible to participate in middle school and high school sports and must be on file in the athletic office. This physical will be good for the 2011-12 school year. Another round of physicals will be held in early August. For more information regarding the physicals, please call (989) 731-6675.
