PETOSKEY, MI -- If you're driving between Indian River and Petoskey Saturday morning, you might see a bunch of soldiers, walking, for a reason.

Local soldiers will march 23 miles starting Saturday in Indian River at six in the morning, and with 45 pounds on their backs, will end up in Petoskey around one Saturday afternoon.

The walk is to raise money and awareness for the military men and women who have been paralyzed in combat.

"Just to raise awareness because a lot of people out there don't realize the soldiers are out there with spinal cord injuries that they've went through in war and now they have to deal with," said Terra Tansey, a co-organizer of the event.

The march for the wounded vets raised @1,200 last year and they hope to at least double that this year.

All proceeds will go to the Michigan Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America.
